Refunds and cancellations.
This page explains how cancelling works, when you can get your money back, and how to ask. It covers Thayln Plus and things you buy in the AI Store. It sits alongside our Terms of Use, and nothing on it takes away your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For a major failure with a service, you're entitled to cancel your contract with us, and to a refund for the unused part or compensation for its reduced value. For a major failure with digital goods (such as an app), you're entitled to a replacement or a refund. You're also entitled to be compensated for any other loss or damage that could reasonably have been expected. If a failure isn't a major failure, you're entitled to have it fixed in a reasonable time. If it isn't fixed, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part.
A major failure is, for example, when something doesn't do what we said it would, isn't fit for its purpose, or has a problem that would have stopped a reasonable person buying it if they'd known. The ACCC explains these rights in more detail. Everything below works alongside them, never instead of them.
Cancelling Plus
- Plus renews automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in your account at thayln.com/account.
- Cancelling stops the next payment. Plus keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, then your account goes back to Free.
- Your things on your PC aren't touched when Plus ends.
The first 7 days
- Changed your mind? Ask within 7 days of being charged for a new subscription (Plus or an app) or for a yearly renewal, and we'll refund that payment in full. The subscription ends when we refund it.
- Monthly renewals aren't covered: cancel at any time and you won't be charged again.
- After 7 days, cancelling stops the next payment, and what you've paid for keeps working until the end of its period.
Refunds for Plus
- Apart from the first 7 days and your consumer law rights, we don't refund part of a month or year you've already started. Cancelling means you won't be charged again.
- The 14-day free trial (once per person) and the 30 days of Plus for early-access waitlist members are free. We don't charge you for them.
- If we've charged you by mistake, for example twice, or after you'd cancelled, we'll refund it in full.
- If we raise the price of your plan, we'll tell you before it applies. That includes the Founders price moving to the higher plan after your first year. You can cancel before the new price applies and you won't pay it.
- If we change our terms in a way you don't accept, or remove something important you've paid for, you can cancel and we'll refund the unused part.
AI Store purchases
- Thayln is the seller of record for paid apps. That means you deal with us for refunds, not the developer.
- One-time purchases: if an app doesn't work as its listing says, and the developer can't fix it in a reasonable time, ask us for a refund. If it's a major failure, you're entitled to one.
- App subscriptions: cancel at any time. The app keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for. When it ends, the app is switched off on your PC and its data is kept, in case you come back. We don't refund part of a period already started, apart from the first 7 days and your consumer law rights.
- Bundles: a developer's bundle subscription works the same way as an app subscription.
- If a developer moves an app off subscriptions, people who were subscribed keep the app for good.
- If a developer leaves the AI Store: their apps come out of the store. If you bought one, you keep it. If you subscribe, you keep the version you have, for good, and you won't be charged again. It won't get updates, and anything it did online may stop working: if you relied on that, or paid recently, ask us and we'll sort out a fair refund of the unused part.
- If we remove an app because it broke our rules in a way that affects what you paid for, we'll tell you and sort out a fair remedy, including a refund where it's due.
- Questions about how an app works are best sent to its developer first, using the support contact on their profile. Money questions come to us.
Deleting your account
- When you ask us to delete your account, we switch it off and delete it 14 days later, so you can change your mind until then.
- Your subscriptions stop renewing when it's switched off. What's left of a period you've paid for ends with the account, and isn't refunded, apart from the first 7 days and your consumer law rights.
- We keep records of your payments for as long as the law requires, even after your account is deleted.
How to ask for a refund
- Email hello@thayln.com from the email address on your account.
- Tell us what you bought, roughly when, and what went wrong. A screenshot helps if something isn't working.
- Refund requests are about money, so they always go to a person, not our AI email assistant.
- If a refund is due, we pay it back through Stripe to the card or payment method you used. It can take several working days to show up, depending on your bank.
- We never ask for your card number by email. Don't send it.
Chargebacks
- Please talk to us before disputing a payment with your bank. We can usually sort things out faster.
- If you dispute a payment, we may pause the plan or app it paid for while the dispute is open. If the dispute is decided in your favour, we won't charge you again for it.
- Disputing a payment never affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Prices, currency and GST
- Prices are in US dollars only. Your bank or card provider may convert the amount into your currency and charge a fee. Refunds are made in US dollars, so the amount in your currency can differ a little because of exchange rates.
- Prices shown include any GST that applies. Where we must collect and pay GST or a similar tax, we do.
Questions
Email hello@thayln.com. If you're not happy with how we've handled a refund, you can contact your local consumer protection agency, such as NSW Fair Trading, or learn more at the ACCC.
